4/18/12 - Since we have been so busy lately, we are just starting our 2012 river report now. The fishing season has been off to an early start, with the Hendrickson hatch doing well the last couple of weeks with action on the surface and nymph fishing producing nice holdover Browns and Rainbows. We now turn our attention to the Green Caddis which have been starting to be seen around the river. Bass and Pike fishing has been very good with some nice pike chasing flies and big lures. The river is on the low side as I write this, so drifting the TMA is an issue. We can drift the Bass and Pike waters and walk/wade for trout in the TMA. Contact us and book a guide trip. The state will be stocking the river soon and there are plenty of holdovers to be had. The 2012 fishing season is off and running and Spring Turkey season starts next week!!! www.HOUSATONICFISHING.com www.RIPLIPSFISHING.com

10/1/10 - Finally, the rain we have been looking for all season. The Housatonic is way up now and will drop at a good clip this coming week. We will be back in action to float the TMA. In addition, we have been doing very well on bass and pike. October is an excellent month for pike, bass and trout so give us a call and book a trip now! www.housatonicfishing.com www.riplipsfishing.com
8/1/10 - We have been doing very well chasing bass and pike. We have been catching them throughout the summer via fly and spinning gear, with bass up to 18" and pike up to 29". Surface action for bass has improved and more and more pike will be showing up on the line as water temps slowly drop down a bit. Give us a call and book a great day on the water, you cannot beat fishing for warmwater species on the Housatonic River! www.housatonicfishing.com www.riplipsfishing.com
6/13/10 - Overall, fishing has been great so far this season! Spring trout fishing has been very good most of the time and the Bass bite has been getting better and better. The hatches have been as expected and the fish ranged from hungry stockies to plenty of nice hold-overs throughout the season so far. The Housatonic River conditions have been decent, with low water levels around a good chuck of the time. We just received a heavy blast of rain which has got the river back to a great drifting level! Along with higher water and the cooler days and evening of late, we can still target trout for now with good success. Don't forget, when the trout fishing slows down on the Housatonic, we go after the warm water species of the river. The Small Mouth Bass and Pike fishing on the river can be excellent! I truly love to pursue these fish either on the fly rod or spin fishing. These are native, high quality fish that fight very well and look perfect! Give us a call and get out on one of our boats for a great day of fishing, contact us now to book your trip! www.housatonicfishing.com
8/29/11 - Bass and pike fishing has been very good for most trips so far this summer. Bass have been landed up to 18 inches and we nailed a couple of pike in the 10-15 pound class recently. We just got creamed by Irene and the Housatonic River is a wild scene right now. Once she drops back down, expect trout fishing to be ready to go. In addition, bass and pike will be in the crosshairs through October. www.HOUSATONICFISHING.com www.RIPLIPSFISHING.com
6/15/11 - The big rains we had up here last week put the trout fishing on a nice extension and the fishing has been very good! Dry fly action has been excellent in the later part of the day into evening. Our 4-dark timeslot guide trips have been producing big time this week. Caddis, light cahill spinners, Iso's, whatever you throw at working fish, they eat it. Also during the day, hitting the edges with Alder patterns blindly has worked very nicely along with throwing streamers. Yes the Housy is doing quite well right now for trout so book your guide trip to take advantage of this action. Also consider fly or spin fishing via our drift boat or bass boat for bass and pike from now through October.
6/6/11 - Dry fly action continues to produce later in the day into darkness. Weather permitting, we can still go after trout. As the weather gets hotter, we start to focus our attention on Small Mouth Bass and Pike fishing. We can pursue these species with both fly and spin gear. I have several areas on the Housatonic where we can either use my driftboat, run a motor or a combination of both. I also have a 16' Bass Boat available for action on the Housy, local lakes and ponds. Now through the summer is a great time to spend the day fishing on the Housatonic. Do be fooled, fishing for bass is exciting and challenging and don't forget, there are Pike up to 25lbs in the river and can be caught anytime during a bass trip. Contact me for more details, I love guiding and pursuing these local warmwater fish!
5/16/11 - Wow, what a weekend of fishing. On both days, all of our guide trips produced big time and the conditions were great. It rained hard up here on and off on Sunday, but the fishing was never better. We have been picking up some nice holdover rainbows and browns of all different sizes these past weeks and Sunday in the rain produced a real nice recent prize - 18" holdover brown trout and it was great to see! Dry fly activity is picking up more and more and we are all expecting the big "pop" when surface action really opens up. In the meantime, we are doing very well on nymphs and streamers. May is a big time month on the Housatonic, give us a call to set up a guide trip. Conditions are excellent and just perfect for a full or half day on our drift boat!!!!

5/8/11 - Fishing this past week has been very good. The river is presently in PERFECT condition and the Green Caddis have started to show up this weekend. We expect the Housatonic from here forward to explode with insects, rising fish, and guide trips to continue to do well. Nymphing and streamers have both been very successful methods and now that the river is in prime shape, surface action will pick up big time! Give us a call to set up a guided wading trip, or better yet, do a guided drift boat trip you will be happy you did!!! www.RIPLIPSFISHING.com
4/7/11 - Let's go rip some lips. Now is the time to get your good dates in for guided fishing. Remember weekends in May are the first to go, so give us a call to book a trip now!
